Wak

The pre-Islamic, pre-Christian supreme sky god of the Cushitic peoples of the Horn of Africa. Wak is the source of rain, fertility, and the moral law, and is invoked in oaths sworn under the open sky. The Waaqeffanna religion, the indigenous Oromo faith, is named after him and continues to be practised in parts of Oromia, where it has seen a recent revival alongside the assertion of Oromo cultural identity.
