Community Guidelines

Oriire is a space for learning, sharing, and celebrating African mythology, history, and culture. These guidelines exist to ensure our community remains respectful, inclusive, and enriching for everyone.

1. Respect and Civility

Treat all community members with respect and courtesy. Disagreements are welcome — personal attacks, insults, and hostility are not. Engage with ideas, not individuals. Remember that behind every comment is a real person.

2. Cultural Sensitivity

mythology, folklore and cultural memory from across Africa are living traditions tied to real communities and belief systems. Approach all cultural content with respect and an open mind. Avoid trivialising, mocking, or misrepresenting cultural practices, spiritual beliefs, or oral traditions.

3. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

We have zero tolerance for hate speech, racism, tribalism, sexism, homophobia, or any form of discrimination. Content or comments that target individuals or groups based on ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, or disability will be removed, and offending accounts may be suspended or banned.

4. Original and Honest Contributions

Whether you're commenting on an article or submitting content, be authentic and honest. Do not plagiarise or present others' work as your own. If you reference external sources, provide proper attribution. Misinformation and fabricated claims are not welcome.

5. No Spam or Self-Promotion

Do not use comments or submissions as a platform for unsolicited advertising, spam, or excessive self-promotion. Sharing relevant links is fine when it adds value to the discussion, but repeated or irrelevant promotional content will be removed.

6. Constructive Feedback

We encourage thoughtful feedback and constructive criticism. If you disagree with an article's interpretation or a fellow member's comment, explain your perspective with evidence and reasoning. The goal is to learn from one another and deepen our collective understanding.

7. Protect Privacy

Do not share personal information about others without their consent. This includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or any other identifying information. Respect the privacy of fellow community members.

8. No Harmful or Illegal Content

Do not post content that is illegal, threatening, obscene, or that promotes violence or self-harm. This includes graphic imagery, explicit material, or content that could endanger others.

9. Moderation and Enforcement

Oriire's editorial team reserves the right to moderate, edit, or remove any content that violates these guidelines. Depending on the severity of the violation, consequences may include:

A warning from the moderation team
Removal of the offending content
Temporary suspension of your account
Permanent ban from the community

10. Reporting Violations

If you see content that violates these guidelines, please report it to us at info@oriire.com. We take all reports seriously and will review them promptly.
