Chukwu

Igbo (Nigeria) · West Africa
The supreme creator god of the Igbo, the source of all things and the parent of the lesser deities including Amadioha, Ala, and the Ndi-Ichie ancestors. Chukwu is remote and is reached through the intermediaries of the pantheon and through one's personal Chi. Some Igbo Christian traditions translate the Christian God as Chukwu, while traditional practice maintains Chukwu as the apex of the older Odinani cosmology.
