Damballa

The serpent-loa of the sky, wisdom, and creation in Haitian Vodou, descended from the Fon serpent god Dan. Damballa is depicted as a white serpent stretching across the heavens, and his consort Ayida-Weddo is the rainbow. He speaks only through hisses, interpreted by his priests, and his offerings include eggs, white flour, and rice. Devotees in possession by Damballa do not speak, only weave and ripple across the ground.
