Tano

The Akan river god, associated with the Tano River that flows through Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. Tano is considered the most senior of the Abosom (lesser deities) and was traditionally consulted before war or important matters of state. He is the patron of fishermen along the river's course and is honoured at shrines that mark the river's source and major bends.
