The Akan earth goddess and consort of Nyame, mother of the dead, and guarantor of truth. Asase Ya is honoured on Thursdays, when the earth is considered to be resting and traditional farmers refrain from tilling. Oaths sworn on Asase Ya bind the swearer to her judgement, and any blood spilled on the earth is regarded as her right to claim.
