Cagn

The creator-trickster of the San peoples of southern Africa, who often takes the form of a praying mantis. Cagn made the moon by throwing his shoe into the sky and is said to have brought the first fire from below the earth. He is at once revered as the maker of the world and laughed at for his cunning, theft, and frequent humiliations at the hands of stronger beings. The eland is his sacred animal.
