Legba

The gatekeeper deity of crossroads, doorways, and communication between worlds. Legba is the first deity invoked in any ceremony, as no message can pass to the other Orishas or Loas without him. In Vodou he is depicted as an old man with a cane and pipe, and in Yoruba and diaspora practice he is associated with the unpredictable and the threshold between sacred and profane.
