Nana Buluku

The primordial creator goddess in Fon mythology, mother of Mawu (the moon) and Lisa (the sun). Nana Buluku is the source from which all other deities descend and is associated with the ancient and the unknowable. Though largely retired from human affairs after creation, she is still invoked in matters of deep ancestry and origin, and her cult was carried into the Yoruba-speaking world and across the Atlantic.
