The fierce mother-loa of Haitian Vodou and the patron of single mothers, the persecuted, and queer women. Ezili Dantor is iconographically conflated with the Black Madonna of Częstochowa, who arrived in Haiti via Polish soldiers in the Revolution. Her face is scarred from a fight, she speaks only in grunts, and she carries a dagger. She protects fiercely and gives no quarter to those who harm her own.
