Cwezi

Bunyoro-Kitara (Uganda, eastern DRC, western Tanzania, Rwanda) · East Africa

The semi-divine dynasty said to have ruled the Bunyoro-Kitara empire in the Great Lakes region before the rise of the present royal lines, then mysteriously disappeared. The Cwezi are remembered as taller, more powerful, and more beautiful than ordinary humans, and the cattle they kept (Ankole longhorns) are still revered. Spirit mediums of the Cwezi are consulted across Uganda and Rwanda to this day.
