Sarkin Ruwa

The Hausa spirit-king of the waters, who presides over rivers, lakes, and the unseen world beneath. In the Bori tradition, Sarkin Ruwa is one of the most powerful spirits and is invoked by mediums for matters concerning fertility, drowning, and the appeasement of water-bound dead. His name appears across Hausaland from Sokoto to Kano, and his cult predates the Islamisation of the region.
