A cavalry parade and royal homage tradition held during Eid celebrations across the Hausa-Fulani emirates, most famously in Kano, Katsina, Zaria, and Sokoto. Mounted nobles in elaborate regalia ride past the emir in formal salute, while the emir's praise singers and drummers fill the air. The Durbar fuses pre-Islamic horse-warrior tradition with the Islamic calendar and is one of Africa's most visually striking surviving royal rituals.
