Ayelala

A Yoruba goddess of justice and truth, whose cult emerged from the story of a woman sacrificed to seal a peace pact between warring communities. Ayelala is invoked to punish liars, thieves, and oath-breakers, and her shrines remain active in southwestern Nigeria. She is feared for the swiftness of her retribution, which is said to manifest as illness, madness, or the death of the offender's livestock.
